Ed's Story
Life after 5.25.65
After HS graduation, I went to ISU. I majored in Political Science with an emphasis in political theory (kind of a philosophy thing). At first, I wanted to be a lawyer but I discovered they really do chase ambulances and most certainly are the root of all evil. Actually, I figured out I wanted to work with kids. I met and married a lovely Pocatello lady. By staying in school, I was able to stay out of the military long enough to get a high draft number. I believe(d) the war was a waste of both human and material resources just as the current military endeavors are. My difficulties weren't (aren't) with the guys that actually do (did) the the work, it's with the "mucky mucks" that know better but place their personal interests above the country's well being and security. I worked at a school for emotionally disturbed kids and later as a mental health case worker for the state. Somehow, I got really good at teaching language arts stuff. It always made me feel as though I was contributing when teachers that had my kids, after I taught them, would tell me they could identify my kids from other kids because mine could read and write really well. I would get all puffed up when the test scores came in because of the whopper gains my kids made. It was always a joy when the kids would come back to visit. During that time, I was also involved in the teachers union and got another graduate degree. Unfortunately, after seventeen years, the marriage went into the ditch (don'tcha just ...Expand for more
hate it when that ditch jumps up and shakes the begeebees out of you). I left teaching to get another graduate degree. After I got that degree, I went to work for the local school district. I was pretty good at getting kids into college and getting them scholarships. Now, I get to go to my student's college graduations and weddings. I retired in the spring of '08 with about 35 years of public service. It feels really good to be getting a paycheck just because I'm so darn good lookin'. I've got a shop bigger than my house (it's a guy thing). I've got a couple of old sports cars I've restored and two '65 Ford Mustangs I tinker with. It's not a good day if I don't get to ride my motorcycle. I'm the proud poppa of some great puppies. They bring me great joy. I've learned to navigate my way around a dance floor country western style. I'd love to get back to Idaho and strap on the old skis and do a little down hilling and traipse around the hills exploring stuff. I've been fortunate to avoid getting shot by jealous husbands and agile enough to dodge vindictive Ex's black magic venomous spells (knock on wood). I've lived my life by the righteous principles of having never tasted bad whiskey nor have I ever seen an ugly woman. I've become an Ordained Minister--if you want, you may refer to me as Reverend. I owe it all to the wonderful time I spent in the main hall, kiddy corner from the main office, of IFHS ogling and harassing the bodacious babes of dear 'ol IFHS. Is it time to go fishin'?
