After High school I joined the Navy. I was an aviation anti submarine warfare operator, acquired 1200 hours in P3C Orion aircraft and hunted the red threat from bases in Iceland and Sicily. Four years of the Navy was enough and I got out and went to school on the GI bill. Graduated from St Pete Jr College with AS in Aviation Tech. Moved to Denver Colorado and graduated from Metropolitan State with a BS in their aviation program. Received my commercial, instrument and certified flight instructor ratings. I worked as a flight instructor and then opened my own business called Mile High Cobra, an ultralight aircraft dealership. In 1985 my dad got cancer, so my wife and I decided to move back to Clearwater to help out. I married Diane (Smith) in 1980; she is from Largo class of 74. With airline jobs at a low, I decided to try something different. I still kept in touch with Ben Driver and he worked for Florida Power. I applied and was hired as a groundman.
