Ed's Story

After walking with Nancy B at graduation in a fever spent the summer surfing (Access 5/Vilano/North Jetties) and working only to wake up one day and realize it was time to head to Atlanta. Matriculated at Georgia Tech (with Chris P, Johnny C, Randy Z, and Bruce B) on a Navy scholarship realizing fairly quickly that the military and I had different views on certain things. Spent most of the next 4.513 years learning about mathematics and life, scrimping for money to pay for school, growing my hair, making friends and having fun. After graduation from GT stuck out my thumb, here the truck come, goes a whoop whoop whoop on my levis . . . hitchhiked to NYC to catch a plane to Germany and a ballerina I knew there (from Jax). Headed home to Jax after six months of adventure through Europe and moved to First Street at the beach. Walked across the street to Fletcher Jr High where the principal hired me two days before the start of school to teach 8th grade math ¿ a very rude awakening when I realized all the high level math I learned at GT was light years from teaching a low achieving 12/13 year old how to add and subtract much less anything more than that. Figured it out the and ended up teaching the better part of 10 years ¿ 9 of it at guess where ¿ Wolfson, Wolfson Wolfpack . . . Also went into the t-shirt screen printing business for awhile with Toby an...Expand for more
d Mike J ¿ that was a great adventure too. Quickly ended up teaching Algebra, Geometry Trig, Calculus, etc at Wolfson so actually did use the GT stuff. Started the first computer lab at Wolfson and after Wolfson went into a couple of computer entrepreneurial ventures and came very close to hitting the homerun once ¿ but alas the switch from DOS to Windows ran us out of venture capital. Also was married for the first time which lasted 7 years. So after ten years chasing rainbows I felt the need for a 401K and went to work at Barnett Bank which became NationsBank which became Bank of America which . . . Now manage an innovation team so we lay around on the floor and think up new ideas ¿ you¿ve seen the commercial - something like that. Was lucky enough to connect with my true love Kim about the same time I went into banking fifteen years ago and we¿ve now been married for the best 13 years of my life. I still surf occasionally in the warm months but draw the line at cold weather and wetsuits. Try to play golf once a week although having started relatively late in life makes it quite the masochistic love/hate endeavor. We love to travel the Caribbean and warmer climates, went to Ireland a couple of times and China. Still live in San Jose area of Jax. Continue to have friends from high school and many others. Have never been happier. Life is good!
