Ed's Story

Life After obtaining a PhD in theoretical physics, I became an oil industry exploration research geophysicist. I worked in the oil industry for Shell and BP for 32 years and retired. I was ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church in 1990. In 2003, I began a second career as a chaplain for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. After 3-1/2 years, in mid-2006, I decided to retire from ...Expand for more
that career and just be a volunteer in the prisons. 2016 update: Cathey had multiple spontaneous fractures in both ankles and has had difficulty walking despite the fact that the bones have healed; so I am staying close to home except for brief outings for shopping. Fortunately, I have been proactive in recruiting successors to my ministries. I am pleased to see them carrying the ball.
