Eddie's Story
Kids have been grown and gone for years and living their lives. Mija Rachel returned to Chaparral, NM with her 2 boys and Mijo Chris is a married father of 1 son and still living in Germany.
Thanks to learning English from Mrs.Sherwood, Mrs.Brainard, Mrs.Matthews, & Mrs.Moody [remember them?], I'm still blessed to continue technical writing at HP, supporting leading-edge technology. It's challenging sometimes; the complexity of it makes my head hurt and yet thankful for the opportunity to contribute.
My experiences with the Larimer County Sheriffs Office opened up options to other opportunities. They are still on the table and I see law enforcement much closer, from their perspective. Haven't pursued the Reserve Deputy position yet. That opportunity remains open and depending on this economy, is one backup plan ready to implement.
I still waterski like a madman and have also taken up wake surfing, behind wakeboard-style boats. Great friends from North Colorado introduced me to the concept and it is a blast to enjoy. In this state, the outdoors is a plethora of activities, year round and I plan to take in as much as possible while it's available. I didn't even get to all the craft beers made here; mmm, tasty.
Racing cars got too expensive without sponsor money and I chose to stay by my kids instead. When I see them today, we laugh about the 'could-a beens'. Loved almost every minute I worked at Yearwood S...Expand for more
peed and Custom. I still have an old '72 Z-28 Camaro from those days when the kids and I slalomed the parking light stanchions at Cielo Vista mall on a sunday afternoon (TX Blue laws said 'Closed' then), spinning and drifting before anyone ever made movies about doing that. We got chased by mall security but never got caught. That Camaro is more than a car, it was cheap entertainment and one connection when times were tough. We had had great fun back then. Hope to finish restoring it to its full glory, one day and return to steering with the throttle cracked open.
I still like taking the old ones apart and hot rodding them. Latest toy is another 1972 Chevy; a Corvette. It's my link to the past, when the past was simply getting a burger, fries and a coke (Dr. Pepper, please) and hanging out with your friends (Charcoaler or Whataburger). Since I completed Phase One of its restoration, I've been travelling out of state in it when I'm not showing in classic car shows.
If I find some sweet lady who remembers where she was in the spring of 1972, I could be persuaded to get closer for a visit down the best parts of memory lane. You never know who you're going to discover until you focus your outlook.
Until then, I'll enjoy life as much as I can in beautiful Colorado. Drop a note sometime (find me at book of faces too:more active there) and let me know you're out there, ok? Take Care and Thanks for Stopping by!
