Ed's Story

C. Edward Napier, Jr. – JOHNSON CITY John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son; that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Mr. C. Edward Napier, Jr., 60 years and 6 days, departed this life and began his heavenly life on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Ed was born in Norton, VA but lived most of his life in Kingsport, Tennessee. Ed was the son of Frances Griffin Napier and the late C. Edward Napier, Sr. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend his devotion to his family and friends was tireless as was his faith in God. Ed was a member of Boy Scout Troop 86, Kingsport having attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Ed mentored children through the Odyssey of the Mind program, Kingsport. He had a passion for racing and was a traveling team member with Jerry Gulley Racing and also with Rod Collins Racing. His career as an electrical instrumentation designer had him working with various companies including Fluor Daniel, Inc., Raytheon, Bechtel Corp., Parsons Engineering, Alstom, and retired from Mesa Associates, Inc. in 2011. Ed worked on various projects all over the United States including TVA plant sites with passion and dedication. Ed was a born again Christian and baptized Christmas Day 1994 at Snow Memorial Baptist Church. Ed was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church for 15 years. Surviving in addition to his mother: His faithful wife of 16 years, Pamela King Napier; as well as the mother of his daughter, Linda Patterson Bowlin, Rogersville, TN; daughter, Tobie Campbell, Johnson City, step-son, Jeff McCorkle and wife, Lorie, Elizabethton; grandsons, Isaac Osborne and Ryan Osborne, Johnson City, step-granddaughter, Sophia McCorkle, Elizabethton, a sister, Judy Cody and husband, Bill, Mt. Carmel; niece, Laura Quinto and husband, Dean, Marietta, GA, nephew, Chris Myers, Kingsport; grand nieces, Ava and Mya Quinto, Marietta, GA and several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration service of the life of C. Edward Napier, Jr. will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Trinity Baptist Church, Jonesborough with Dr. Mark Harrod officiating. The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 at Trinity Baptist Church with service to follow. Family and friends are asked to meet at Washington County Memory Gardens Mausoleum on Friday, March 9 for the committal service at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Chris Myers, Otha and Rob King, Darrell Hollins, Billy Osborne, Joey Smith, Roger Hixson, and Tony Maden. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Warren Jones, Dr. Scott MacDonald, Dr. Mike Hodge, Tim Cutshall, Tony Fink, Jeff Stout, Mike Whitt.
