Edie's Story

My friends remember me as funny and quiet. I'm still those things to a certain degree. I always wanted to be a travel agent when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea idea. As it turns out, they were more interested in it than I was. When I want to blow off steam I hang out with friends and vent to anyone who will listen. The wildest thing I ever did in school was toilet paper houses. Jeez, I was dull! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have friends, patience, and humor to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My heroes are any cancer survivors and anyone who has overcome great adversity. I have lived all over the place. Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Durango, CO, Washington and Oregon. Salem, OR really is home to me. I miss things about Albuquerque, but can't see living there again. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Debbie Montoya because without her I never would have passed Chemistry. My obsessions...hmmm, don't really have any...I love music, reading, baseball...I guess I'm kinda obsessed with travel. My biggest surprise is being able to get up and sing karoke without benefit of alcohol. I really love it and I was always so shy in school and it blows my mind that I can get up and do that in front of people and actually have them say I sounded good. My dream home is a beach house, but I'll have to settle for my rented condo for now. I learned about computers from my son and have discovered how really technologically challenged I am. I would love to see the Figge brothers again. They were the coolest teachers ever! If I won $100 million I'd give half of it to cancer research and spend the rest on a car, a house, my son, and my friends. Campus life...well, I went to too many frat parties. Glad that's in the past. To be truly happy, I would be...Expand for more
living at the coast and walking my dog on the beach every day. I would have the money to travel everywhere that I could and have lots of close friends to hang out with. My current age is 50. When I was 12, I thought people my age would be ancient. I was so completely wrong. I have had lots of jobs in my life...never really had much of a career. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but that's ok. I don't know what happened to my first crush. After the 9th grade he moved away. My best friend would tell you I'm a lunatic, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as too quiet. I dress in what I like and feel good in even if it isn't the current trend. I haven't really had any jobs that I could call "weird." I share my home with my boyfriend which I find totally fun. He's a sweetie! My biggest victory was raising a well-mannered, caring, respectful child in a world full of insanity. What would I do differently...well, I would spend less time on men and more time on education. In 10 years, I hope to be ready to retire. I'm going to get there by sticking with my job, 401(k), and stock options. My oldest friend is Linda. We met in elementary school somehow. I really don't remember how, but we've been best friends all our lives. I really consider her family. Nothing about me would probably surpise too many people at my reunion. I doubt very many people remember me at all. My first real job was with Washington Inventory service. I got paid 3-something an hour to count stuff in stores. What I remember most was the good friends I made and the travelling. And the partying...omg!!! I'll never forget the time I walked 5 miles to my house from school in the 1st grade instead of riding the bus, which I hated. I was soooo proud of myself. My parents were furious.
