Edward's Story

I graduated in December 1966, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in April 1967. After basic training at Amarillo AFB in the Panhandle, I attended training at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi (June '67) and a follow-on training at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX (Nov '67). I was then assigned to Peshawar, W. Pakistan (May '68 - Sept '69); Goodfellow AFB (Oct '69 - Jun '71); Misawa, Japan (July '71 - Oct '73) and Kelly AFB, San Antonio, TX (Nov '73 - Sept '74). I left the Air Force and moved to San Angelo, Tx and enrolled at Angelo State University, where I earned a BBA (Management), and an AFROTC Commission as a 2nd Lt. in May 1980. I re-entered the Air Force in December 1980 as a commissioned Officer and attended training at Lowry AFB, Denver, Co., and Goodfellow AFB (again!). From 1981 thru May of 1983, I was assigned as the OIC of Special Programs Branch; and Senior Intelligence Briefing Officer, HQ Electronic Security Command Alert Center. In June 1983, I was a "by name selectee" to fill a position at an operational Intelligence facility in the United Kingdom. I served as: Chief of Analysis and Reporting; Chief of Collections Operations; Deputy Detachment Commander; and Detachment Commander. 89, I was again a "by-name selectee" to fill a position at Eglin AFB, Florida as Director of Intelligence Training for World Wide Multi-national Combat, Command, Control and Communication training. I directed the Intelligence flow and reporting training in preparation for Desert Storm I. In 1992, due to a family medical emergency, I was reassigned to Goodfellow AFB, where I retired in July 1993. After a divorce in 1997, I moved to Tampa, Fl and took a job with Florida's Department of Children and Families as an Eligibility Specialist in a Children's Medical Insurance Coverage program. I also met the lady to whom I am now married to. After 9-11, I applied, and was accepted, for a position with the U.S.Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration, from which I retired on 31 Dec 2019.. I am in my 3rd marriage. I have 3 grown and married sons, who have between them 8 children. I also have 2 grown step children. Both are graduates of University of South Florida. I have battled cancer twice. I have never bowled a perfect game, nor have I hit a hole in one on the golf course. I have hit a couple of Grand Slam home runs; pitched a no-hitter; and scored a touchdown or two. I've broken a lot of bones, mostly my own. I have a Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu, and I am a strong advocate and ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment, along with the rest of the U.S. Constitution.
