Edward's Story
Life
Nothing to brag about, still in the military after almost 30 years, I am still at Camp Roberts north of Paso. I want to thank my class mates for the card and money that I received last November. Some of my mates know what happened. You see I lost my 17 year old son to an auto accident. He past away on Nov. 22 2001 Thanksgiving. He was the starting left offensive tackle on the varsity football team, he had an unusual number for a offensive tackle #51 he had that number for the 3 years he played football. The school retired his #51 and incased it in a box and presented it to me at the football awards at the beginning of this year and they also did a video of this last football season and dedicated it to my sons memory. He was always the second player announced at the begining of the games. The video shows him coming out of the tunnel slapping other players and cheerleaders hands. Although my son was taken away from myself and family I will always have those memories of him and that is something that can never be taken away from me ever. The hardest thing about his death is that I miss him dearly. Unforunitly I was the only one home the last nite he was alive and I will never foreget the words he said to me as he was leaving "DAD I LOVE AND I WIL...Expand for more
L SEE YOU TOMORROW", well that tomorrow will come one day and I will see my son again in a better place as we all know. He stood 6'3" 270 lbs and he was still growing and he was talking about going to collage and playing some football and he would of made it. I am an exclusive member of an organization which I hope and pray that none of you ever become members of this exclusive club. I am blessed with a grandson that has his uncle's eyes blue and yes he did look like me my son that is why he was named Ed Jr.You see my fellow class mates he was my son and my best friend and I miss them both. I want to thank Jay,Vicki and Debbie. Thank you Ed Scheuerman Sr. 2008: A lot has changed in a few years. After 34 years I finially retired from the military after I did a combat tour in Iraq. Boy you think Atascadero or Paso is hot during the summer then you are fooled HA HA. The average temp in Iraq while I was there was around 120 degrees. It was a life changing experience for me. About 2 hours after getting off the plane in Iraq I relized I was in a combat zone as the rockets and mortars were falling inside our FOB. Some interesting pictures I took of Iraq. New note, just retired from the military after 34 years ( November 2008 ) and living in Paso Robles.
