Edward's Story
Interesting. I¿m basically writing down my life. Ok ..
1968 with High School over I went to Monticello A&M. Vietnam was running full blast and I took about two steps ahead of my draft notice and joined the Army in October 1969. (if drafted, you had to serve two years in the MOS as needed. If you joined though, it was three years with the MOS of your choice .. more or less). Still went to Vietnam for 18 months, but as a 72B (Communications Center Specialist ¿ Teletype Operator) and then back to the states to Ft Huachuca, AZ for the remaining year. Got out of the Army and back to Crossett Arkansas. Went to school for Auto Mechanics (wanted to learn something about working on cars .. no real intention to actually BE a mechanic). Then, school for machinist for a couple of years and then onto working as such for the next five years in Houston, TX and El Dorado, AR. Spent another seven years or so in Texas going to school, managing a hobby shop and ending u...Expand for more
p working in apartment renovation until THAT got old. Went back in the Army in 1987, this time as a 19K. That¿s a Tanker .. M1/M1A1 Abrams Main battle tank. Did this for the next twelve years .. Ft Knox KY, Ft Hood TX for five years or so, Saudi Arabia/Iraq (Desert Storm), Erlanger and Vilsek Germany for three years, Ft Hunter Liggett CA for a couple of years and finally Camp Casey Korea where I ended my Army service (I thought) ending up coming back to Arkansas. I joined the Army Reserve in El Dorado AR as a 55B (Ammunition Specialist) where I was mobilized in Oct 2001 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom which then quickly slipped into Operation Iraqi Freedom. Spent most of my time in Baton Rouge LA as Munitions Logistics for the war with duty in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan etc. in 2003. Ended up my service at the Joint Reserve Center in New Orleans where I retired in 2006. I have since ended up in Lugoff SC (outside Columbia SC) where I am now.
