Edward's Story
I spent 20 and a half years in the United States Air Force. Was stationed in England, Germany, Alaska, San Antonio, Texas (twice), and Tucson, Arizona. Was also sent to Saudi Arabia twice, and Khartoum, Sudan. I retired in 1998 and came home to Orlando.Upon returning home to Orlando, I acted as my wife's 24/7 fulltime caregiver for 13 years as she courageously battled Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She sadly lost her battle to MS in August, 2011. Even tho I am deeply saddened by my wife's death I know she is in a better place and free from the stranglehold of MS and is watching over our daughter Megan and myself. Since her death I have done what my wife and daughter would want me to do and that is get on with life and enjoy it to the fullest. I have re-connected and travelled to visit old friends around the country that I lost touch with for many years. I also have gotten back into exercise and hope to one day participate in local 5K runs and around the state and country. My ultimate goal is to run in the Disney Marathon in January of 2015. ! For other fun I love to watch the Orlando Magic, Tampa Bay Rays baseball, Orlando City Lions soccer and Florida Gators and Miami Dolphins football. But really starting to ge...Expand for more
t interested in the hometown UCF Knights where my daughter attends. My daughter Megan who I am very proud of, will graduate from UCF this fall and is applying for medical schools around the country. She wants to be an emergency room doctor. I also love to read, watch movies, spend time with my lovely daughter and our adopted Golden Retriever "Lilly Munster" and reconnect with old friends on Facebook. Some of my favorite music artists are the Bee Gees, Foreigner, Journey, Boston, ELO, Gerry Hafferty, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, and Kenny Chesney, I am sure there is some I left off the list. Even tho the old neighborhood (New Azalea Park) has gotten old, I still love to go there. The old neighborhood always brings back fond memories when I was growing up there. Just recently went to an Alumni event at Colonial High School. It was great to be back at the old school that I hadn't been back to in 37 years. I plan on going to more events at the old school. Let's go Grenadiers!!! I also plan to one day buy a get-away place close to the beach. So I would appreciate any donations, LOL!!! Even tho Orlando has grown alot I still love being back here. I wish I had never left for 20 and a half years. This place will always be home!
