Edwin's Story
Well here goes in 1978 I had my friends drop me off at the Peru exit on I-80 west stuck out my thumb and before my friends could turn around I got a ride with a Semi to Omaha. Spent a week with some friends there then headed west to California. I met some pretty interesting people along the way one guy in particular was a guy from Queens New York named Rocky. He was on his way to Isla Vista Ca. to hook up with some old buds. Since it was close to L.A. I thought why not? We pull into town at about 11:30 P.M. where we meet his friends Brian Stamm and get this Ritchie Cunningham. Considering at the time Happy Days was the #1 show in the country I had a good time with that one you can bet. Well I got a regular job at Jack in the Box for about 2 weeks when the Stones tour came to L.A. and S.F. so I stuck out my thumb to L.A. with Ritchie and we sold T-shirts outside the arena and made a couple of hundred bucks then went to S.F. and did the same thing getting to see the shows for free by swapping two tickets for a T-shirt then selling one of the tickets making the money for theboss and getting in for free. After that I pretty much settled into a musicians life in Santa Barbara where the blues are still big. As you can see in the pictures I still haven't stopped and I don't think I ever will. That led me to a couple of opportunities like going to Philly and meeting the Stones (exc...Expand for more
ept Mick),Pink Floyd,The Dead,& Eagles after that I joined a 60's soul band and performed 4 gigs in one day at the annual Fiesta celebrations we were booked at three different bars and two private parties. That was a tough day on the vocal chords being the Lead singerand all. After that I got to work in 2 movies as an extra and a henchman. The extra work was in an HBO movie called "Dead Solid Perfect" Starring Randy Quaid,Jack Warden, and Lesley Ann Warren. The henchman role was "The Search for the Homless Man" Starring John Schneider(Dukes of Hazzard),Matt Johnston(Former stunt double for Mel Gibson), and Alex Rocco (Moe Green from the Godfather). In that role I got to hit Mr. Schneider in the head with a breakaway bottle. I also got a two shot with another extra. Don't worry you won't start seeing me in Variety or anything. Well that just about brings us to today where I actively canvas for legalizing pot every where making it like alcohol and taxing it. Just think if the family farmer of the'80's had that option of growing that crop he might have been able to save the family farm. Well enough of the soap box routine. Whether you agree with me or not it is safer to be stoned than drunk.Don't get me wrong everyone who knows me knows I like a good cocktail like the next guy but to not use a resource because you do not like it is assinine.Peace to you all.
