Eileen's Story
Hi Everyone.
Since leaving Acton, this is what I've been up to:
Undergrad UMASS
Graduate School University of Illinois. Degree Advertising.
I've lived in Chicago since 1978, never thought I'd stay but first it was job, then marriage, house, kids etc.. I've been a Media Director since I graduated, now going on 30+ years yikes! I've worked at the larger agencies, and much to my surprise have been pretty successful. Now I just work from home part time. I'm in my third marriage, which took place in August '07 and live in Lake Forest. It's the first time I've lived in the suburbs since Acton!!!
I have 2 great kids from my first marriage, a daughter Molly who's a senior at BC and a son, Brian, who's a freshmen at Miami of Ohio. They love Chicago and growing up in the city. I don't make it back East much even though Molly was in school there. I've been a single working mother their entire childhood.
I think I look better now than when I was in...Expand for more
school, I've gone blonde which is a huge improvement, and I don't have such a dreary haircut. I think people might be surprised that I actually look better, albeit OLD!
I think I'm most surprised that I've stayed in Chicago, I still think of the east coast as my home but wouldn't recognize all the changes. I imagine my house on Hemlock lane is totally different and that beautiful street all built up. I've heard that Acton is a high tech area and it cracks me up when it's described as a suburb of Boston, I use to think it was so far away.
I'm also surprised at ending up in the corporate world. I started to become more conservative in college. People are very surprised that I once considered myself a hippie and did all the things that came along with that.
If you're reading this then we must have been good friends. Please leave me a note.
I especially want to send Lisa, Kathy, Jan, Melinda, Bruce, Ellen and many others a warm hello.
