Life
The biggest accomplishment of my life has been raising three children and getting to (surviving to? Anyone who has raised teens knows what I mean!) the point where I can say they are my friends.
I lived in Canada for 21 years and feel more Canadian than American. But I came back to California in 1997 to be with my parents as they aged.
My life hasn't gone where I always thought it would. But the journey has been full of lessons and growth. I now understand what "they" talk about when "they" talk about aging gracefully. There is an incredible sense of peace in maturing and feeling content with where you a...Expand for more
re and what you're doing; in coming to appreciate the things that are real and really matter in life. Somehow all those things that were so important in high school just lose their importance, don't they?
But having said that I am content with where I am, I have now gone back to school. I am attending COC (again) and taking the PACE Liberal Studies program, which means I will have my bachelors degree in 4 years, even while working full-time. My goal is to become a first grade teacher. I reached the point where I wanted my career to have some meaning, to feel that I am giving something back to the world around me.
