Elaine's Story
After earning a teaching degree from Western Michigan University, I took a position in the Saginaw Township School System. I met my future husband in my apartment building and we've been married ever since. I taught a couple of years and left teaching to raise two children. We lived in Saginaw for 13 years where I was active in music circles. My husband's family had a cherry farm in Traverse City and we decided to move here in 1976. ...Expand for more
I went to work for a local frozen food manufacturer in sales and distribution for the next 13 years. My teaching skills came in handy, as I also trained new staff. The company was bought out by Sara Lee Corp and bye-bye. I spent an additional 12 years at Blue Cross/Blue Shield serving the public and have now retired. The old cliche' about retirement is quite true. I'm busier than ever. I don't know WHEN I would have time to work.
