Elaine's Story
Wow, I'm trying to think back that far! Ok, I graduated high school, went to High Point College for a year and a half, then transferred to Lenoir-Rhyne and graduated in '93 with a BA in Psychology/Sociology. I worked for a year at Park Ridge Hospital on the HOPE womens' unit, attempting to help women with eating disorders and/or severe depression. Unfortunately this wasn't my "thing" - it was too hard for me to stay detached. I then drove out to Utah and worked as a Youth Wilderness Counselor for troubled teens (this I really liked- I guess I could relate!) But my dad became sick...Expand for more
after about a year so I headed back to Asheville and returned to Park Ridge, this time working on the child and adolescent unit. Not too much after that my roommate got engaged and moved out, so I put an ad in the paper for a new roommate and met my future husband! I spent the next five years working for a dermatologist in Arden, and am now working for a great optometrist (also in Arden) and am back in school at night at AB Tech doing the Medical Coding program. My husband Rob and I have been married ten years and have an awesome ten year old son (don't do the math!) named Alec.
