Elana's Story

Julian- Cosmetology Queen (Mrs. Judith Ledvora/Ms. Gamm), Volleyball (Mrs. Griffin), Basketball (Male Coach ? Nice guy fair, skinned, very tall, beard), Dance, Sung in the talent show with Sylvester Johnson, the Cheer Leader Guy- Do you guys remember when we had the talent contest i.e (Johnny Carson show)That's when Minnie Ripperton came and was the host of the show. I sang a duet with Sylvester Johnson for the program. Now that would be a good piece of footage to play at the class reunion. I was also a Regular dancer on Soul Train;D. Yeah believe it. Debra and Perry Pettigrew are my cousins who attended Julian. Leandros Cooper, my brother was on the basketball team for a season, his best friend was Jeff Bailey and his brother Bernard. Hung out with Debbie Johnson (cosmetology queen) Pregnant in my Sophomore year. Alpha House at Julian. Attended St. Bernard in the 1st grade til graduation. Joined the Volleyball team was next to the worse player. That summer Brenda Burts took me in the gym and taught me how to serve a volleyball with red hot speed (Linda and Brenda Burts were the best) the following year I made Unity H.S Team at Julian H.S at one point they wanted me to be captain, instead I nominated Rhonda. She was just as shy but accepted. Thanks Brenda. I think our first movie we went to see was 'Fiddler on the Roof' at St. Bernard... After Graduation most of us went to the movies to see 'Claudine' it was the only movie we could get into. Me, my brother, Brenda Burts, Michelle Rhyne, Lori-Ann Smith, Wendall Murray, Kevin Turner, Renee, Veronica and Atkins Taylor. We had a blast, and BIG afros were in. I remember Michelle knocking Atkins over the seat at the theatre and kissing him. Brenda and myself were shocked! Guess cause I wanted too. Always had a crush on him.
