Elbert Edward's Story

Life I will start my bio and finish later. Born Greenwood, S.C. 1948. Mother divorced dad and drug me to Calif. 1959. Attended Muscoy School, Femont JR High, Fontana Jr. High, San Bdno High for part of 10th grade. Quit school to join Navy. Navy sent me to the USS Enterprise, CVA(N)65 where I started on the flight deck. I soon realized the error of my ways and took the GED and passed. After the NAVY joined San Bdno Sheriff's Office. Retired 1984. Started present business. Went to Oakland Merritt College for short time, transferred to Valley and Graduated. Applied to Western State University College of Law, Orange County and accepted. Graduated 4 years later with JD Deg.(1979). Married twice. First marriage gave me three great kids, 2 grand kids. Divorced 1978. Remarried to the love of my life 1984 and have 3 step kids, and 4 step grand kids. My hobby is Underwater Photography and my wife and I travel the world to shoot. I attend Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Redlands, Calif. My wife and I co-lead a group study every Wednesday night titled,"Divorce Care". It is a great ministry and outreach. In about 100 years when I am old enough to retire, we are talking about the Yucatan area of Mexico as we love the area and people. Plus the diving is great. If I could change anything, I would finish High School instead of dropping out. But, I thought I knew it all. Boy was I wrong. Will write more later. School Magnolia School in Greenwood, SC was a fun place. My mother took me out of School in the 5th grade and brought me to Calif. I never got to say good bye to friends. new friends at Muscoy School, Fremont Jr. High, Fontana Jr High, and San Bdno High. Lots of my friends were killed in Viet Nam. I regret not staying for Graduation at San Bdno High and keeping up with friends. Maybe we, that are still here will bump into each other. Had a great time in College and Law School. Like most people in my class during Law School, not everyone planed to practice law as one would think of Perry Mason. Some of us attended Law School for business or other career reasons. Workplace I absolutely love what I am presently doing and have no desire to retire. But, I know someday I will retire and live in the Yucatan area of Mexico. Military Served aboard the Enterprise. Find any US paper Jan. 14,15, 1969. Read Headlines. I worked on the Flight Deck as Flight Deck Control Supervisor. I was in the middle of that great fire, fighting it, seeing my friends killed, and still dreaming about it. There were many brave people that day. Originally planned on a career in the Navy. When I got married in 1968 I changed my mind and finished my tour and got out. Never regretted that move. I recommend the Service for every young man. It helps one to get their life in order while they think about where it is they are going. It also teaches respect for self, and others. In the present day 2009, I truly believe that we choose our destiny. We can change course any time, and go to any mountain top. It is sad to see people who are unhappy with their life, yet they sit and watch TV and do nothing to change what they are unhappy about. Do not give up. Choose to change where you are heading.
