Eleanor's Story
After Sunny Hills I went to college and then to grad school. In 1980 I started teaching economics, first at the University of Florida and then at Princeton before coming to Pomona College where I've been ever since. I've found that the way to hang out with the nice economists is to study nice things: my research is on charitable giving and volunteer labor, and I developed a team-taught course with an ethicist called Freedom, Markets and Well Being. marvelous sons, one a computer whiz working at Symantec and one a math grad student at Georgia Tech. Their father and I divorced in 2004. I live in Claremont and enjoy the usual stuff--music, food, hiking--and pretty much all of the arts (books, theater, even opera). My two goals for this year are to get rid of some of the stuff that has accumulated in my house over the decades and to figure out how to spend time dancing, which I don't know how to do but love.
