College
Personally I think going to a Culinary School was a big waste of my time and money. I think I could have learned more of what I wanted to learn AND gotten paid, by working in good restaurants and hotels. The Culinary Institute of America was extremely political when I went there. It was difficult being a woman there and about the only thing you could do for entertainment at the time was drink beer. Fortunately the drinking age was not raised to 21 yet when I was there. lenging but once I got married, in 1980, all I really thought about was being a stay at home mother and teaching my children how to be responsible adults so I guess in that sense I was very successful.
Workplace
Right now I am just cashiering in Sears. I am actually trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. I homeschooled both of our children and our youngest is going to graduate this year. I will then look for a job in the food industry. I'd like to work part time somewhere or else run an establishment that does breakfast and lunch only.
