Eleanora (Ellie)'s Story
After graduating from HS I was accepted for a position as a State Employee at Charity Hospital. Worked there for 3 years and transferred to a State Position at UNO. Attended classes part-time majoring in Sociology. In 1971 I transferred as a State Employee to the LA Army National Guard and on November 9, 1972, I was one of the first women enlisted inti the LA Army National Guard. I worked as a Personnel SFC Tech until 1977, at which time I was appointed the first female Warrant Officer for the LA Army National Guard. er. In April 2000, I retired from the LA Army National Guard with over 27 years of service and with 22 years of active duty at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four. I resided in Meraux, LA during that time prior to Hurricane Katrina. After Hurricane Katrina, I relocated to Liberty, SC. We are considering splitting our time between here and LA and will be looking to buy a condominium in the near future. I am married to Robert Davis who is also a retired active duty National Guard member and a retired NOPD Detective. I have 2 stepchildren, 1 resides in Franklinton, LA and the other one resides in Ohio with his wife and 2 children.
