Elisa's Story
Life
I have been married for nearly two years, after years of trying to avoid it and dating lawyers, bankers, consultants, etc., I ended up marrying the sweetest, regular guy you can imagine. Oh, and did I mention, I am following the example set by Demi Moore and married younger.
I didn't think I would find someone who would put up with me day after day after day! I am mean at home (have to take out my frustrations from the work place where everybody thinks I am nice). Gus is the only guy who has been able to tame me some what; he makes me laugh even when I want to be mad. I can't ask for more.
After nearly a year of being married, we had a New Year's Eve church wedding. Two of my bridesmaids were good, old West Campus graduates - Toni and Genevieve. We joined our guest to watch the fireworks on the San Antonio Riverwalk and it has been fireworks ever since!
School
Mr. Harmier by far had the greatest impact on my life. He set me on the course to my career and was one of the first to manage to teach me discipline.
College
Everybody says the best time of their life was there college years. I didn't do any of that. It was actually quite boring. I worked so hard to get my degree in three years and ended up commuting between San Antonio and Austin. My last semester, I took 12 hours at UT Austin, 9 at Palo Alto, and 6 through correspondence courses. On top of all that, I had...Expand for more
to look after my mom and younger brother. That didn't leave much time for partying or having fun...
Until I got to law school. I decided I needed to get away and be a little bit selfish, so I moved to Ohio. Finally, I was able to enjoy my life. Definitely the best years of my life and was able to capture the time lost before!
Workplace
I serve as In-House counsel for the company I work with, which repairs and overhauls aircraft engines for customers around the world. I draft, review, and negotiate all contracts that are non-U.S. gov't. It's the same thing every day, can be quite boring and sleepy at time! The only thing that makes it interesting is who you are negotiating with since there are customers in the Netherlands, England, Saudi, Thailand, Brazil, etc. I'm waiting for the travel opportunity to some where like France!
Military
No military experience but the majority of my career, I have worked on a military base. Our clients are military. In San Antonio, I have worked at Kelly, Brooks, and Fort Sam. I worked in New Jersey for 2 years and the main base we associated with was Fort Monmouth. I've also briefed at Army Material Command once and was able to visit the Pentagon with a co-worker, oh, and we get to get on some of the planes every once in a while. I think if you are in the military, this is no bid deal. And if you are not, it is probably also no bid deal. But I love it.
