Elizabeth's Story
i am no longer grooming dogs-here's just not enough time anymore. Running this farm has gotten a little out of control. We are up to about three dozen cattle with two different bulls. We hope to be working on a new line in the future. We are also up to about three dozen sheep, as well. We added a new ram into the flock. So we are now crossing out Jacob sheep with an Islandic ram with good results. I really enjoy my duck eggs and they are starting to become a very popular item at the farmer's market with my lamb and pork. I'm hoping to add some added value products like ethnic sausages. ce we are transitioning toward organic. I thought retirement would be a little low key but it's far from it with all the work we do. I don't know how much longer I want to do this. I think I would rather do something else like to get on training my horses. I was very surprised that West Virginia being an agriculture state does not allow the sale of raw milk. We had to get our own cow to be able to do this. I'm working with my homeopath with my animals so I don't have to give drugs and antibiotics in the meat. It's rather exciting at times to be able to figure things out no sometimes disheartening not to be able to find an alternative.
