Elizabeth's Story
Hi I am Elizabeth Simon formerly Elizabeth S. Bernard of Baton Rouge, LA. I left Lake Charles in 1982 and lived in Baton Rouge until 1995. I have three children, two boys and a girl. I divorced based on spousal abuse. I did not connect to anyone when I returned here. Frankly, I only saw a couple of childhood friends. I went through a lot of traumatic experiences, one incident you all know about. Well, in 2005 I found myself homeless and destitute. Then, Hurricane Rita struck. Although I had 20 years office experience, I accepted a job at Kroger's as a Cashier for minimum wage. I walked to 2 miles to and from my job everyday. I was determined to pull myself out of a rut. People often commented that they would see me at the bus stop. I had spent a lot of time reading my bible. I read it anywhere from 2 to 7 times beginning to end over a period of 4 years. I participated in mail Bible Studies. I relied on God to fulfill a promise that he would take care of all my needs Phil 4:19. He delivered and I was not surprised. I am now a supervisor with Kroger's and live two blocks from my job. I recently bought a car. I recently graduated with an AA in Paralegal Studies and will graduate again with a BGS in General Studies with a concentration in ...Expand for more
Behavioral Science. That leader in cheerleader is still there as I unknowingly became a role model for a lot of people I have never met. In the year 2012 I look forward to a higher paying job and set my sights on a place to call my own, HOME. A lot has happened over the past 6 years and I give God the glory. I plan to write a book and yes, my experiences at Lake Charles HIgh School has a place in it. It is a novel and not a biography. You see my family had a lot of secrets. I would like to show how a community has an impact on the outcome of peoples lives. I could not have come this far without some good people in the Lake Charles community. The times of old Lake Charles High has passed but our memories are a lifetime. Tentively the book is called"So, Long Sailor" it starts with my father abandoning our family my senior year in high school. Well as for the rest you will have to read the book. Love ya'll and hello to all of you.
I always wanted to be a lawyer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were never there.
My favorite way to relax is a hot bubbly fragrant bath. Sometimes candles and sometimes just soft music. I would sometimes drink a beer but doctor's orders are no alcohol.
