Elizabeth's Story
Life
Y'all knew me as Betsy back in H.S., and that hasn't changed. I've lived lots of places in the US and had a great career as a librarian. The highlight was my work as the cataloging supervisor at the U.S. Senate Library in Washington DC. I was there from 1993 until I retired at the end of 2014. Terrific colleagues, very interesting work, and extremely fast-paced and high-stress environment.
I'm married to a wonderful guy. In 2015 we relocated to Buffalo, NY, where my husband is from. Buffalo is a city that has been a national punchline for way too long. While certainly the city suffered a terrible economic decline, it has been on an uptick for the past several years. Buffalo has great history, architecture, natural beauty, culture, and a terrific food and beer scene. The best thing about Buffalo, though, are the warm and unpretentious people. After spending 20+ years in DC chained to the oars in the Senate, the lack of pretense here is SO refreshing!
Hobbies
I'm pretty health conscious and very much into exercise, weight training, bicycling, yoga, and hiking. These things are fun and help keep decrepitude somewhat at bay. :-)

brary. I get to use my library skills in a totally not=for=profit organization, and I work on such interesting things. Example--I cataloged an enormous trove of photographs that the library owns. I've learned so much about Buffalo because of my volunteer gig. The History Museum building is beautiful and dates from the Pan American Exposition that was held in Buffalo in 1901.
I enjoy travel, the arts, literature, movies, and music. Right now music by alt-country and Texas artists like Ryan Bingham, Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock, Guy Clark, and Steve Earle get a lot of airplay at my house. I also listen to a lot of jazz (old stuff--Nat King Cole, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald).
I've gotten very interested in the photography of Milton Rogovin, who lived here in Buffalo and was a pre-eminent documentary photographer. His work is incredibly moving.
I read all the time. I checked off a major bucket list item when I finished 'In Search of Lost Time' by Marcel Proust last year. I've been doing a lot of research on the Vietnam War of late.
I also spend more time than I should watching Saturday Night Live and SCTV skits on YouTube and shrieking with laughter. :-)
Best wishes to the class of '74.
