Elizabeth's Story

Life Hi! Well, most from high school who will remember me are the ones who were in the music programs. I was a member of concert choir, All State and chamber choir. Of course, I was in the variety shows and musicals too! : ) I left Iowa in 1976, moving to Houston, Texas. I guess I expected to see cows roaming free in the streets, everyone in a cowboy hat and boots and other such nonsense. Of course, Texas is a place all its own! While I never saw cows in the streets, I saw plenty of armadillos (dead and alive) and plenty of cowboy hats and boots! Almost everyone there has at least one pair of boots... I was fortunate enough to get involved in music there as well, being a part of Theatre Under the Stars (musical theater) for a while. I was also a member of the Houston Concert Choir, a part of the Thurlow Spurr musical groups. As my spiritual side grew, I started doing more Praise & Worship music, being parts of several various groups in Houston. I still love to sing! I never did earn my living from music, however, and "pushed beans" to get the paycheck - I took up the accounting side of life, helping other people count and spend their money! After a four-year stint in Loveland, Colorado (which I still love!), I am currently in southern Illinois, looking for an escape route! Ha! It isn't my favorite place that I've lived. The best part about here are the eagles and hawks. Birds of prey love this area, and I adore the site of the huge wing spans floating gracefully overhead. I'd move back to Texas in a heartbeat if I could. I'd also give Tennessee a try - something I've always wanted to do! I am currently back in college after all these years, studying to get certification in web design. Yes, it is true - I am a computer geek ...Expand for more
and web junkie, and not looking for a cure. I spend a lot of time online these days, and hope to build a web/template/logo designing business. I'd love to hear from old classmates and know what's going on in your lives! In harmony - Beth School Well, there were several who qualified as eye candy. Ha! Most inspiring teacher - that's a toughie. I remember Sophie Wallentine in Spanish - she was always cheerful, and made coming to class a pleasure. I even remember when she made a recipe with authentic Spanish saffron! I remember David Welch who egged me on about animals having souls, just to get me to talk in class. Of course, I remember all our music and drama teachers - they were a big part of my life. My favorite memories are of the variety shows, and All State trips. Well, not the actual trips - they were a bore - but All State itself, meeting talented musicians from all over the state - was amazing. I remember the first time hearing Pachelbel with everyone's voice - I still get chills! I was proud and blessed to be a part of it all. Workplace Ha! My first "real" job was working for a toy store in Houston, TX. I worked for them for three years (and I have the mental scars to prove it!). My last job with a steady paycheck was in Houston as a billing analyst. I loved it, but my job was outsourced to India thankkewverymuch, not! I miss it, but life goes on. I've run my own small biz online for four years, and love it. Of course, the boss is a little nutso, but the hours and dress code are great! Military no - no military service. I was never required to sign up and never did. I would not be qualified anyhoo, as I am an asthmatic. Nothing but respect and gratitude for those who do choose to serve our country.
