Elizabeth's Story

Life After receiving a Graphic Design degree, I worked at ad agencies for several years. I became dissatisfied with the "business" of advertising, so I left the field. I first married in 1990, but divorced in 1992. I married again in 1994. My son was born in 1995 and my daughter in 2001. For the past eight years I have been teaching part-time at a local Pre-school and I have my own business as a free-lance artist, specializing in murals and hand-painted furniture. My family, my art, my garden and my music are my greatest passions. To anyone who reads this, I'd like to give you this message. This past February, 2008, my brother David, who graduated in 1980, died suddenly and unexpectedly. His passing has taught me a life lesson that I try to share with everyone. Every moment and every day that we have with our families, and the people that we love in this world, IS A GIFT! Someone can be taken from you in the blink of an eye. Don't let petty things keep you distanced from the people that you care for most, you may never get the chanc...Expand for more
e to "mend those fences". You may never get the chance to call those friends or loved ones that you've been meaning to call, but just got too busy. Spend more time with your spouse, your children and others that you love, even if it seems inconvenient at the time. Never take those connections and gifts for granted. Tell those you love...that you love them!! It is the greatest heartbreak when they're truly gone. Is there something you would regret not saying, if that person were suddenly gone? I've made this change in how I live my life and I urge all of you to do the same. Not just for a week or so, but for the rest of your life. I took for granted that there would always be more time to spend with my brother. More time to visit and talk with him. Now it's too late. We still had a close relationship, but there will always be things that I wish I had said and done. You never plan for someone you love to be there one day, and suddenly gone the next. Cherish every moment and say what you need to say. God bless, and take care of you and yours.
