Elke's Story
After graduating, I moved to Las Vegas with my parents. I went to work for a local veterinarian as a Veterinary Tech, but left after 6 months because I cannot stand to see animals in pain/suffering. Signed up to go into the Air Force in 1984, but had to delay my enlistment as my Grandfather passed in Germany and I went to take care of my Grandmother who was suffering from Dementia. I took care of her until we got her into a nursing home, then came back to the states and off I went in April of '85 to AF Basic Training at Lackland AFB, and then Sheperd AFB for Tech School. Did not get the job I was promised, ended up being a Corrosion Control Specialist stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. On a TDY to Eglin in 1986, I met my husband. We married...Expand for more
in May 1987, and I went into the IRR. Since then we have also lived in Arizona (2 x), North Carolina, Alaska and then finally Arkansas, which is where he retired. We are still living in Arkansas, where as of right now I work from home for Sykes powered by Alpine Access. I have been with the company for a little over 2 years now and really enjoy my job. My husband went to work for Lockheed Martin doing the same job he did while Active Duty. We enjoy Motorcycle riding, shooting and just getting out into Nature, although that was been curtailed somewhat by me having to have had a Total Hip Replacement 2 1/2 years ago. I have 2 kids, Andrew and Lauren, who are both out of High School. I also foster cats, so my house is pretty busy pet wise.
