Ellen Asnes:

CLASS OF 1970
Belleville, NJ
Trenton, NJ

Ellen's Story

First, I wonder if anyone (except for my closest friends) really remember me. I was not exactly a "stand-out" in terms of popularity., I was rather quiet and reserved and was more of an observer. I was also "bullied" a little in junior high. But all that changed once I got to college. I made lots of friends, had a great social life and sort of blossomed. OK, so I was a late bloomer! I graduated from Trenton State College with a Special Education major and immediately moved to Houston to attend grad school at the University of Houston. I had every intention of getting my Master's degree and returning to NJ. Wrong!! I fell in love with Houston and Texas and have been here for 34 years. Houston was the great...Expand for more
est place to live as a single person in the mid-1970's. Everyone was moving here from other states. I started teaching here and life was great! I had a blast for two and a half years enjoying the social scene when one night I met the man I was to marry. Bill and I have been married 30 years and have a 21 year old son. I taught Special Ed for 29 years and retired in 2004. We live in Sugar Land, TX, just outside Houston. Bill owned an ad agency but is now free-lancing. I work part-time in an educational toy store. Sometimes I get very nostalgic for Belleville and the class of 1970 and I wonder what everyone is up to these days. Look me up if you ever pass through Houston. (If you remember me, that is). Ellen
