Elliot K.'s Story

My earliest children memories is seeing my father's paternal grandmother preparing her sheep wool for weaving in her eight sided home. When I was 5 and a half, I enrolled in Chinle Boarding School. Throughout my elementary aged years, I lived in the boys dormitories with about 90 to 125 boys in one half of a residential hall. We walked to the classrooms and learned standard English curriculum. I entered American Fork High School in Fall 1990 as a sophomore, graduated from the high school in May 1993. That fall, I entered Utah Valley Community College/State College. ral years later, in fall of 2006, I begun my elementary education undergraduate studies. Back in fall 1996, I searched for education courses at University of Utah, Humboldt State University, University of Oklahoma, and Navajo Community College (Dine College). In August 2010, I earned a master's degree in education with basic mathematics teaching from University of Oregon. I had earned a bachelor's in elementary education at Haskell Indian Nations University in eastern Kansas. Today, as of January 2021, I am living at 23 miles southwest of Chinle, Arizona on the Navajo Nation. I speak two languages, engaged in voluntary ministry activities with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
