Elton's Story
Life
1963-67, served in three Viet Nam campaigns aboard the USS Talladega APA-208 as a Machinists Mate.
1967-69, attended College of the Sequoias (COS), a JC in Visalia, Calif. I attended on the GI Bill and was able to earn a football scholarship. I played inside linebacker at 6'0" & 225 lbs. During high school, I warmed the bench & seldom played at 5'10" & 165 lbs.
1969-72, attended Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls, Oregon on an academic scholarship and the GI Bill. I started & lettered in football for three years. In 1972, I received my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
1972-77, I worked for the General Electric Co. with their gas and steam turbine division out of Seattle and Portland. I worked both as a Mechanical Field Engineer and as a Project Manager. The work involved both maintenance, overhauls and new construction.

77-2001, worked 24 plus years for British Petroleum in the Prudhoe Bay oil field on the north slope of Alaska. I oversaw a crew who maintained over 120 gas turbine trains of rotating equipment. This equates to 2.75 million horsepower. The turbines drive large pumps, compressors and generators.
My wife Carolyn and I met at COS in 1967 and married in 1969. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. We have a 33 year old son and a 31 year old daughter, who has three girls. Their ages are ten, eight and five. Our son also has a little girl, born 12/13/05.
Alaska was our home for 25 years. The area is simply both beautiful and spectacular. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
I retired in June 2001. We sold our Alaskan home of 21 years. Carolyn and I relocated (retired) to Prescott, Arizona. We are loving both, retirement and Prescott, Arizona.
