Emil's Story
Life
joined the army the monday after we graduated in 1954. i took basic training at ft bliss tx, then infantry training at ft ord ca. nov, 1954 was assigned to the 33rd infantry regiment, ft davis,republic of panama.nov, 1957, assigned to 1st infantry division, ft riley kansas.july 1957 assigned to the army marksmansip unit to the pistol team. 26 dec 1959 married bonnie wooten, artesia ca. feb 1960 assigned to 31st infantry regiment,camp casey korea.mar 1961 till dec 1961 stationed ft ord ca to the 6th army marksmanship unit.assigned to 3rd armored calvary regimen in germany feb 1962. returned to ft benning ga jan 1965 as a member army shooting team. assigned to the 25th infantry division at cu chi republic of viet nam may 1969 as a sniper/sniper instructor. then became the non commissioned officer in charge of the sniper school. returned to ft bennin ga may 1970 as a member of ...Expand for more
army shooting team. assigned to the us military academy, west point new york as the cadet pistol coach from aug 1972 thru jan 1976. reassigned to the army pistol team as the ncoic from jan 1976 until retirement as a sergeant major on the 31th august, 1979. retired to waco tx and went to work for the us postal service as a clerk until retirement on 31 august, 1996.
still married to bonnie. have three children. kurt, the oldest lives in dallas and works for the vetrans administration. keith, a graduate of the univ. of tx, austin with a degree in mech eng and a mba from smu is a design engineer at lockheedin ft worth. karen, the youngest, graduated from baylor with a degree in education. she is a special ed teacher in rosebud tx.
i do as little as possable
except for traveling.hope all of my classmates from dalhart high has been as fortunate as i in our adult lives
