Emily's Story
After PHS, I studied biology and chemistry at Butler University. I prolonged my academic life for 7 years by attending Tufts University School of Medicine and graduating with a Ph.D in Immunology. Graduate school was very humbling as I quickly realized that hard work could not always overcome my limited brain capacity, and my classmates were much smarter. vested more time on building relationships and getting my confidence from God rather than on my ablilities. God granted me much success. My research interests led me to San Francisco where I worked as a postdoc at UCSF. While working long hours for very little pay, I met a wonderful guy at church who has been my husband for almost ten years. We have a son and a daughter and two cats. I am currently working as a scientist at a biotechnology company that is producing cancer therapy products.
