Life My partner of almost 12 years, Jackson, and I live in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon with our dog and two cats. We're beginning to talk about having kids but there's much traveling we plan to do first! We have a house on 1/2 acre, a huge garden, fruit trees, and a berry patch. A far cry from self-sufficient but getting closer every day (it helps that Jackson is good at catching steelhead and salmon -- fishing, mind you, not catching them mid-air! That would be really cool, though!). I am a professor in the Communication Studies department at Western Oregon University. I teach classes in Rhetoric, Media Studies, Intercultural Communication and Environmental Communication. I've taught seminars on Whiteness and Masculinities in the Media and am working on a book project. I will be representing my university in China this September -- my first trip to any Asian country. I hope to teach abroad in Greece the year after next. I love my work and our students--I can't imagine more rewarding work. I als...Expand for more
