"The run began as it always did, at a one-breath-to-three-strides pace, where I inhale for three and exhale for three. It's not something I try to do, and it never lasts long. By the one-mile mark, I was up to a one-breath-per-two-strides pace, which purred along, if you want to call it that, for another mile before transforming into a loud rasp.
