Emily's Story
My craziest Seneca memories are skipping school with my Debbie, running away from home, journaling and hanging out with the Seven girls, smoking too much pot and getting drunk too often, and sneaking out at night to hang out in the woods and toilet paper houses.
I love life today. I'm trying to be a better person every day, and I'm proud of who I am and hopeful of who I've yet to become. I believe that change is inevitable but growth takes work. I try to take life one day at a time and take baby steps from moment to moment.
I am certified by the State of Florida as a Recovery Peer Specialist for Adults, and I have my Bachelor of Arts degree in the communications field with two minors, human development and leadership studies. I am a writer and editor. I have an eye for detail.
I started my undergraduate education at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, in 1999 and took classes part-time for health reasons and because of my addiction. I'm originally from Maryland, but came to Florida to go to school at Eckerd. I plan to live around here for as long as I can imagine.

lasted throughout my lifetime and I'm a loyal fan of those that I love. I'm liberal and appreciate diversity. I don't like mind games, hatred, and close-mindedness. I'm trustworthy, compassionate, empathetic, and most of my friends joke about how they always seem to go to me with their problems because I'm a good listener and counselor by nature. I'm nurturing and enjoy taking care of others. I'm learning how to take better care of myself. Sometimes I'm self-conscious but sometimes I'm bold and assertive, and I always go after what I truly want. I'm passionate about a lot of ideas, and stand strong for what I believe in. I am a defender of the defenseless, protector of children, lover of animals; sometimes I feel too righteous. I strive to be open-minded. I'm reflective and thoughtful, I analyze and think a lot; I'm philosophical to my very core. I love my inner child, and I'm in touch with a Higher Power of my understanding. I have serenity today because I found a way out: I've been clean since March 1, 2006. Many people have said I've changed, but I think I just found myself.
I am marrying the man of my dreams and loving being a mother to his son.
