Emmet's Story
Aloha from Maui.............
Been back home in Hawaii since '75, living in Honolulu initially and working in the Visitor Travel biz. Still do. Had a great time being a Tour Guide back in the day, taking folks on 3 or 4 island Escorted Tours for 10 to 14 days. Met a broad spectrum of people and have a lot of great memories and stories to share. It was the '70's remember??? The Money was nothing, but the chicks.... well let's just say it was the '70's.
Moved into management by the early '80's in an attempt to grow up. Got married in '85 to ensure it. Moved back to Maui in '87. Divorced in '03. No kids. Never grew up.
Live here on Maui along with our classmates Ray Camacho and Andy Ortiz. It's been cool having those guys here. Play golf with Ray almost every Saturday. Andy and I get together when we can but have to pace ourselves. We used to get into way too much trouble. Did I mention I'm divorced......
Life is good on Maui. No significant other but then again no drama either. Just taking life one day at a time. I have extended family close by and we get together all the time.
I still have family in Hayward, you guys remember my cousin Floralei Eberly, ME class of '71, and get back there occasionally. When I do I've been fortunate to ha...Expand for more
ve stayed in contact with our classmate Burt Nakao. He's been a good friend over the years and has kept me in touch with whats been going on there.
Ray, Andy, Burt and I get together on occasion and have been known to do some damage, just like we did back in the day. Of course we pace ourselves. Did I mention.......
Had a great time at the 30 yr Reunion and really enjoyed seeing everyone that was there and catching up. Especially enjoyed the 'trip down Memory Lane' with Jim Grissom and Tim Bryant and our 'glory days' on the football field. Hope to make the next one if somebody puts it together.
I really appreciate my time at Mt. Eden. We lived through some very significant and exciting times when you look back on it....
Winterland, Filmore West and the Haight in The City........
Berkley and the SDS........
The Panthers in Oakland......
Caesar Chavez and La Raza.......
The Raiders and the A's when they were the Raiders and the A's.....
And blondes and herb everywhere......
Pretty heady stuff for an island boy to walk into. It gave me a very valuable perspective on life and people. And a true appreciation for my little corner of the world.
I wish you all good health and good times. And never, ever grow "old".
Rock on, baby...........
