Eric's Story

Life The life bio. Some folks seem to be getting philosophical here. Why? You put one foot in front of the other, show up for work everyday, pay your bills, stay out of jail, and try to have a family. Next thing you know 10 years have gone by. Pretty soon 20. We have a 20 year coming up don't we? Try to be happy. Get a pet. Start some hobbies. Drink and eat like crazy. Enjoy life. We're not here for very long so try to experience some things. Hopefully the shittier life lessons haven't poisoned you or made you bitter like some folks I've run into. Life is hard and can really suck so work hard and carve out a little hapiness for yourself and that will make it all the more valuable to you. Oh crap, I got philosophical. On that note, I'm going to go have a nice cold beer. School Funny? Happy? Crazy? I'd say overall that high school was a long, dark, painful process that you just have to go through and that my life didn't start getting better until the day after I graduated. Free of the artificial social pressures and expectations of peers you could give a darn about, things really took off afterwards. Career, lovelife, finances--all of it. Well ...Expand for more
the lovelife took a bit longer but now I have a wife and 4 kids so go figure. :) Finances? Oh, wait - I'm in debt up to my eyeballs. Career? - paying that debt. But it keeps slowly getting better. College College? I did the night student thing so I could work full time. You have to when you have a family to support. No drunken all-nighters or frat party stories here...sorry. But it paid off. 2 years at Pepperdine earned me a BS and I now have the career path and network to show for it. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you absolutely have to. Now to pay off all that college debt.... Military I did 6 years in the Navy right out of high school. It was NOT a positive experience but it was a valuable one. I learned a lot of ways how not to be. Sort of learn by opposite example if that makes sense. I didn't get in trouble, I earned my honorable discharge and I have the medals to show for exemplary service. But it still sucked. I'd like those 6 years back. I think I missed some important memories and events locally here with my friends, family and classmates (those first couple of years after Estancia you constantly run into people...)
