Eric's Story

Life After graduation from Misawa in 65 I joined the Regular Army. I qualified for Aviation Maintenance training and ended up in Germany as a Crew Chief on the CH-34 Helicopter. After my Army service I was a Hampton, Virginia Police officer for a year before heading to Western Kentucky University. I met my wife of over 51 years there and we were married in 1970. I served in the Army Reserve while in college but was recruited into the Naval Aviation Reserve Officer program and was commissioned in April 73 as an Ensign. Earned my Naval Flight Officer wings in November 73 and headed off to Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia for training in the F4 Phantom. Served in various squadron and fleet billets and retired in 1994. Went up to Fairfax County as a police officer for a couple years before returning to Virginia Beach. Various contracting jobs but worked for almost 20 years in the War gaming/computer simulation business as both an OPFOR and BLUFOR operator. L...Expand for more
ast 8 years worked for the Mission Command Training Program as both an OPFOR and BLUFOR trainer. College Western Kentucky University 73 BA History/German After college I entered the US Navy via the AVROC OCS program. Flew F-4 PhantomII for 20 years and retired in 1994. Workplace I work part time for the Army out of Fort Leavenworth KS. When they need me for a training event they fly me wherever they need me and I work for a couple weeks. Very nice part time job. I attended Holy Cross thru 9th grade, Caesar Rodney for 6 months and my dad was transferred to Misawa AB, Japan. I graduated in 1965 and served 3 years in the Regular Army and then went to college, graduating from Western Kentucky in 1973 and entering the Navy :-)

Replaced my faded Phantom decal on my coffee cup. :-)
Watching the Coronation I'm reminded of our 8 days in London in 2018 and only one afternoon of brief showers, we ducked into Harrods to shop till the rain passed. They just mentioned 4000 troops about to parade in the rain
