Eric's Story
After hanging out and partying for most of my "High" school years, I moved on to Staten Island Community College for computer programming. Realizing that I was on the wrong path, I left and decided to work in Manhattan in one of the Brokerage firms. Worked real hard learning much for six years at two different Brokerage firms before landing a job at the coveted Depository Trust Company (now DTCC). Began my DTCC career as a Senior Clerk in the Reorganization Department. Ten years later I moved into the IT Applications Development domain performing Quality Assurance Testing as a Systems Analyst. me a programmer/Developer, I now manage several project teams in that effort! So not having a college diploma hasn't affected me in the least. Intelligence, common sense, and hard work have served me well enough.
I relocated to Tampa following the tragic 911 attacks, when the U.S. government requested DTCC to have another facility away from NY capable to serve the financial markets without interuption. So now with two fully operational facilities complete with system redundancies, our finacial markets systems, records and clearance are safer than ever. Now if only the corporations and government would do their jobs...
PS. I don't regret being one of the "Heads" in H.S. I had lots of fun and have great memories of those days.
And it beats being one of the nerds, geeks, jocks, or honor students.
