Eric's Story
After High school I went to the U of O for a couple of years. I hadn't decided on a major so I decided to go traveling for awhile. I went first to Germany where the wall was just coming down. Next I went to Greece to look for work. I lived on the island of Santorini for about 9 months, working at a scooter rental shop. I left to go to Octoberfest back in Germany and got a job in Garmisch with AFRC. This is where I met my wife Julia. We traveled through Eastern Europe together and lived outside of Athens for a summer before returning to Germany. By this time I had been out of school for a couple of years and knew it was time to finish. I came back to the states and finished a degree in Broadcasting and Film from Evergreen State College. d for an ABC affiliate in Spokane before moving to England to be closer to Julia's family. We lived in Manchester where I worked on entertainment programs for Granada TV. After a couple of years I moved to the BBC in Manchester then the BBC in Cambridge. I stayed with the BBC in Cambridge for 7 years. The birth of my son followed 1 1/2 years later by the birth of my twin daughters inspired us to move back to the states in 2005 for a change of lifestyle. Since that time we have been living in Spokane again. I am working as a photojournalist for the same ABC affiliate, KXLY, I started with 11 years earlier. We get to spend lots of time with our kids and family. We like to camp, play at the water parks in the summer and go sledding in the winter.
