Erik's Story

I don't know that my story would be of much interest to anyone. What I can say, is that I've learned much about myself over the years. I haven't seen all there is to see, nor have I done all there is to do, but I have been fortunate to experience much of what is good, bad, and ugly. And I am thankful for it all. When I was a younger man, I believed, for the most part, that the world was black and white, with a few shades of gray in between. Now I believe, that the world is in part black and white, but there are endless shades of gray in between. I have some regrets from my actions in the past, but they are relatively few. one hope I have is that all of those whom I may have hurt through my reckless actions, mostly as a young man in my teens and into my early twenties, will find the ability to forgive me for what I may have done. I am willing to seek that forgiveness unconditionally and to make amends wherever and whenever the opportunity presents itself. Likewise, I have learned to forgive myself and all of those whom I may have felt to have cau...Expand for more
sed me harm. I have heard in the past that our ability to forgive, which does not mean to forget, can be viewed as the sum total of our enlightenment as human beings. I have learned that you cannot make anyone love you. They either do or they don't, and even that is colored by many shades of gray. Love of any kind is a gift and should be held closely to our hearts and never taken for granted. Love is the greatest gift that one person (or animal) can give to another. Speak gently to those around you and to whom you love. Be patient with one another, and accept each other for who you are. No two of us are alikw, we are all unique. Talk is cheap, and actions do speak louder than words. People should speak less and listen more. In my case, I've accepted the fact that my father and mother were usually correct. Even though they made mistakes, they did their best to do right by me and never did anything to intentionally hurt me. God bless them both for that and for wiping my snotty little nose and dirty ass. more to come at a later time........E
