Erik's Story

Life Hello everybody. I have been living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for six years now, home to the Grand Teton mountain range, Teton National Park and our Vice President Dick Cheney. I am working for Pierson Land Works, a land planning and development firm that offers landscape architecture services as well. I also have a home business as a residential lighting designer. Teton County being the wealthiest county in the US (wish I was one of the fortunate), there are many amazing multi-million dollar homes that I have been fortunate enough to design for. Additionally, I pick up some computer consulting work from time to time. It doesn't hurt to have your hands in as many cookie jars as possible to keep up with the cost of living in Jackson. I chose to try and settle in Jackson to take advantage of the incredible outdoor activities it has to offer. Plus, being just a couple of hours from Yellowstone National Park is a nice perk as well. In the winter I am an avid skier, typically skiing for an hour or two every weekday during lunch at Snow King Mountain and then all weekend at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort - aka Teton Village - home of some of America's finest extreme terrain. There is amazing backcountry terrain as well in the Tetons. I try to split my time between alpine skiing, telemarking and alpine touring. When summer comes around I am in the mountains as much as possible. I spend most weekends hiking, backpacking, camping or going on road trips. I also pull the sport bike out of storage for fun and commuting. The fly-fish...Expand for more
ing here is world class, which I don’t take advantage of enough. I like mountain biking, do a bit of rock climbing and repelling and plan on giving kayaking a try soon. I’ve summited the Grand Teton once and hope to concure it again next summer. I am an avid fan of music. I could be classified as an audiophile, if you will. I spend quite a bit of time listening to music. I’ve put together a decent listening system in a dedicated listening room that has drained ridiculous amounts of money from the old wallet. Aside from listening to and collecting all genres of music, I do attend as many live music events as possible. Between the “World Famous” Mangy Moose Bar and the Snow King Resort, we get tons of great concerts here in Jackson. Additionally, there is the Teton Music Festival, which assembles some of the greatest classical musicians in the world to perform small chamber group events during the week and full orchestral events every weekend throughout the summer and winter. Jackson is no slouch as far as the arts are concerned. There are many, many small art galleries and studios. We are lucky enough to have a well-funded arts center that offers classes-o-plenty to the community at large. The library here is far better than one would ever expect in a town with a four-digit population. Due to a family work transfer near the end of our junior year I ended up missing my senior year with you guys. Graduating up in Tennessee profoundly sucked. My heart still bleeds blue and silver and I should have graduated a Redan Raider.
