Erna's Story
Life
After being in the education business in Houston ISD for 41 years, I have retired! I do, however, work part-time at Cy-Fair College, with the development and maintenance of a state-wide program that allows high school students enrolled in selected technical courses to earn college credit through articulation. I had called my salary my "play money" but right now it has become the "take care of Mom & Dad" money. I still have both parents, but have had to put both of them in a nursing home, fallouts from strokes. Really takes a lot of time!!
Other than that, I have had a chance to do quite a bit of travel to Europe, Central America, Canada, and through many of the States, including Hawaii and an Alaskan cru...Expand for more
ise. If I ever win the lottery, I'll be hard to find by snail mail!
I have stayed in Houston all these years, and have been remarried for nearly 24 years, but no kids. Guess I always was too busy helping all the kids I dealt with as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, and Career and Technology Education director.
In my spare(?) time, I like to read, cook, work with my digital photography and graphics on my computer, as well as play some computer games, travel, work some in the yard, play with our dog, etc..
It does not seem possible that we graduated SO long ago, and I'm afraid the time goes faster and faster! I am sure that the clock has been speeded up, not that I'm getting any older!
