Esther's Story

Life I have been married to my 2cd husband for 24 years. We each have a son and a daughter. We have 3 grandchildren living in TX and 3 living in MI, so we don't get to see them too often. They range in age from 10 yrs. to 20 yrs. I get up to MI every summer to see family and friends. We came back from TX the week before Katrina From visiting my husband's daughter and 3 grand children. We had lived on a 36' Trogan Motor Yacht in Tampa for 8 yrs, before moving to Salt Springs. We built a house on a small lake in the middle of the Ocala National Forrest and just enjoy retirement. We have been here for 22 yrs now and would not change a thing. We had a wonderful dog for 11 years, but she got sick 7 years ago and we had to have her put to sleep. We really miss her, but we are afraid we might get the dog from hell-so we aren't going to get another. It is quiet and peaceful and we do what we want to do whenever!! We took a trip to Colorado 10 yrs ago and stayed at the Air Force Academy. One of the priviliges of being married to a retired Military Man. We went to the AF/New Mex football game and really had a good time. The Cadets really get into the spirit of the game. The Aspen had turned, so there was lots of beautiful yellow in the mountains. We took the Cob Railroad up to Pikes Peak--not much air up there, but the sites were something to see. You could see for miles. They had snow the week before-so I got to see the snow. Something I moved from MI so I wouldn't have to see it anymore--but it was beautiful up there. We also went to a Dinner /Theator where audience participation is manditory. It was so much fun. Of course we did the mandatory souvineer shopping and ended up having to check an extra bag coming home. My husband's daughter and her three children are here every June for a week, so we had a very busy time this year. I go back up to MI in July for my yearly visit to see the kids and grand kids and old friends and family. We have'nt decided on our next adventure yet--but I'm sure we will enjoy it. Well , we welcome visiters -so if you want to get in touch--just write and we'll show you some FL hospitality. The latest--My son and his Fiancee were married Nov.20,2008--we are over joyed. We now have a favorite daughter-in-law. She is a great addition to our family, and we have added a grandson and granddaughter to our family. We have a grand-daughter who is now at the U of OK studying Arts and acting. She is multi-talented and sings, acts, is a great artist and graduated w/ a 4.8 GPA. Our next grand-daughter graduated last year was just inducted into the...Expand for more
National Honor Society. She has had a 4.GPA since she started school and has been in advanced classes since 3rd grade. She is also taking CAD classes at the TECH center and took a 1st. place in Architechural drawings a 4th in CAD Technology. She is now studying to be an ARCH ENG and made the President's List at the end of the year !! We are very proud of both of them. We had my Father-in-law living w/us for a year and a half. He had been living id Daytona Beach, but had a small stroke and was not eating and taking care of himself--so we moved him here. After the year and a half we had move him to an Assisted Living Facility. He was there for 6 mo. and then had a stroke and fell and was sent to the Hospital. He didn't break any bones -so they sent him back. The next day he was found on the bathroom floor--back to the hospital. Then to a re-hab center. He went down hill fast over 4 weeks and had 3 more strokes--until the Dr. said it was time for Hospice. He was there 2 wks. and passed away March 5, 2014 at age 95. After not being able to go anywhere for more than an hour for 2 yrs--we are finally getting away for short trips. We went to a Concert in Daytona and stayed at a B&B in New Smyrna Beach for 4 days. Then a couple weeks later we went down to Tampa to visit old friends and stayed at a great hotel on the Causeway for 4 days !! Great to see old friends. I will be going to MI in July. My class reunion is in Oct. and we will be going up to MI for that and then taking a side trip to SC to see a friend who moved there a couple years. She used to live up the road from us and retired and moved to where her son & family lived. She was a Great friend !! It will be good to see her. Regards, Esther & Bob I made my annual trip to MI in July 2010. It was busy--I had my 5 yr. old grand- daughter more than I had planned because my daughter-in law's mom was in the end stage of her battle with CA. She did pass way while I was there. so I was glad I was there to help out. My grand kids are growing up to fast and we are getting old too fast. Saw some old friends--but not as many as I wanted too due to surcumstances beyond my controll. Hopefully next years trip will go better. GR changes every year. We will be going to TX in May for our Grand daughter"s Graduation. She will be going to the University of OK. She has a 4.8 GPA Yes she is smart and talented. We are back and have the TX grandkids for a few days before we put them on a plane back to TX. Another adventure!! My trip to MI is planned for mid July-- maybe I'll be rested up by then and ready for the grandkids in MI !
