Eugene's Story
Life
Eugene A. Berger Jr. was born in Mansfield, OH on Aug. 12, 1937. Attended Ohio University 1956-57 then enlisted in the USAF in Feb. 1957. Trained as a Chinese Mandarin Linguist at the Yale Institute of Far Eastern Languages, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut. Commissioned through OCS (Class 60 C) in 1960. Attended the Air Force Special Security OfficerÂs School at Goodfellow AFB, Texas and served at Headquarters 13TH AF, Clark AFB, RPI. Completed pilot training at Vance AFB, OK (Class 64H). Joined TAC as a GIB or Pilot Systems Operator (PESO) in F4 and deployed to Clark AFB, RPI to act as Air Defense. Volunteered and was accepted to fly combat missions from UBON. (Replacement crews for TAC Squadrons). Returned to Clark AFB to deploy to Cam Rahn Bay, RVN. Flew the first combat missions from Cam Rahn Bay. Returned to the states and transitioned to Aircraft Commander in F4 Assigned to Danang AFB, RVN and completed 100 missions over North Vietnam. Returned to states and transitioned to Instructor Pilot and FCF Pilot F4C, D, E. Left service in 1970 to become Real Estate agent.

ew A-37s and A-10s with the reserves as Aircraft Commander and IP. Served as assistant project manager for Presidential Project ELSA (Training of Salvadoran pilots in A-37). Flew in Panama, Honduras, Italy and participated in several Red Flag Exercises. After 11 years in the reserves had accumulated enough active duty to retire (Sep 1984) with 20 years good time.
JINTACCS (Joint Interoperability of Tactical Command & Control Systems) Instructor for XMCO, 1981. Senior Technical Advisor to Royal Saudi Air Force, King Khalid Air Base, Khamis Mushayt, Saudi Arabia. (With Lear Siegler) 1986. Associate with Air Superiority Associates 1987. Joined FDL, INC in 1984 as Production Planning and Inventory Control Manager. Served this company as Purchasing Agent, Scheduler, Transportation Coordinator, Quality Control Manager, Production Control Manager, and Warehouse Manager. Worked as an Operational and Change Management Consultant in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, and Venezuela. Married four times to three different women. Currently and permanently married to Debra S. Berger. 10 children (blended family) and 13 grandchildren.
