Eugene Lee's Story

Life Hello, After finishing college spent many years with Sears in management until losing my job in 91 after the catalog division was closed. Worked as a consultant at the local college here in Hazard for a few months before landing at Andy's Cycles as general manager and have been there since Sept. 91. My son Warren is and will always be my pride and joy and he has also blessed me with three fine grandsons that fill me up beyond words. I stay busy with my church activities at Bowman United Methodist in Hazard trying to give something back for the many blessings God has given. I am also active in the local Lions Club and was founding President and am still active in the Montessori school we opened as a major club project a few years ago. We recently graduated 42 five year olds and have been so touched with the little ones and the difference the club effort has made in the community having grown to over 100 kids and expanded into rental space in the local city school system. Motorcycles continue to be my passion in sports and raced for many years finally retiring in 97 but continue to ride sport bikes for the rush even though a terrible wreck in June of 01 set me back for a while. I don't get to ride as much as I like due to work responsibilities but love to ride into Virginia and ...Expand for more
travel the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit Civial War battlefields honoring my ancestors that fought in that terrible tiem. Have many fond memories of the times in Coeburn and the close friendships the various reunions reignite even though I don't get back often. Dad still lives there but lost Mom in 99 and work keeps me away but visit when I can. Hazard has become home with being close enough to visit and far enough away to not be a bother. All the best to my old classmates and I enjoy attending class reunions and staying in touch with old friends. I guess I was somewhat of a nerd back then but think racing and the business world broke me out of that shell ending up as quite a risk taker. I continue to write having published a book of poetry in 88 but now concentrate on stories about NASCAR on a website called Catchfence. May God protect you always in the hollow of His hand. Lee College Clinch Valley was an important shaping time in my life of more of a transition from youth to adulthood. The educational process began roughly for me but as I matured and found my focus, the professors and the college made a difference in me and my priorities that continue to shape to this very day. College was not an adventure but a lot of hard work that did much to make me the person I am today.
