Eugene's Story
Life
I live in Weslaco, Tx. My wife,Freddy[Humphreys]and I have been married for 37 years. We have four married sons and five wonderful grandchildren. I have been with Burton Auto Supply since 1972 and I am now joined in the business by my oldest son, Gene. My greatest joy comes in serving the Lord Jesus Christ and he gives me lots of opportunities.
School
I really enjoyed Brownsville High. I had great friends, wonderful experiences and actually learned a few things. Some of my favorite teachers were Mr. Ritchie, Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Burns, Mr. Bestero and Mr. Kubena. I am amazed how much Mr. Jackson and Mr. Olivera accomplished as our principals. I enjoyed choir, tennis team, senior play, student council, etc. I went straight from high school to college and graduated in four years-not bad.
College

ave many great memories. I was fortunate to have two good jobs while going to school which really helped financially. Freddy and I got married right before our last semester started-That's my best memory.
Workplace
I got my degree in accounting from UT Austin in 1966. I worked for an accounting firm in Houston for a year before going into the army in October 1967. I spent three years as an infantry officer icluding one year in Viet Nam. After the service, Freddy andI with our growing family moved back to the Valley where I worked for a CPA firm in Harlingen for two years. In 1972,we moved to Weslaco where I became the chief financial officer for my Dad's company, Burton Auto Supply. I have served as President of Burton's since my Dad passed away in 1983. I enjoy my work very much. It has been rewarding and fulfilling in ways that I would have never imagined. I look forward to more years of service to this company, its customers and employees.
