Eunice's Story
Life
1967 - Graduated High School
1967 - The Monday following graduation, I started my
career with the City of L.A.-LAPD
1968 TO 1973 - Attended L.A. City College and Cal State L.A.
1974 - Got married for a brief 2 years
1979 - Quit the City and became a Flight Attendant with United Airlines. After training and flying for 2 whole months, United had a layoff and I had to move from Chicago back to L.A. (Was lucky to be rehired with LAPD again).
1981 - Promoted from a clerical position to Police 9-1-1 Dispatcher
1992 - Transferred to Newton Street Div.(Shootin' Newton)
1999 - Transferred to Robbery-Homicide--my last assignment
2003 - Retired 9 days prior to the end of the Golden Handshake program!
2007 - Married for the FINAL time.
Oct. to Nov. 2007 - Went to Okinawa and Tokyo
2007 to Present - Volunteer teaching Elementary school students to play the ukulele.
2011 - Took a Mexican Riviera cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Matzalan and Puerto Vallarta..despite ...Expand for more
terrorist warning...had a marvelous time!
2012 - I can finally say I've been to all the States on the West Coast! Went to the Pacific Northwest and visited Anacortes, WA on Fildalgo Island...wish I could live there!
Workplace
June 1967 - Went to work as a typist for LAPD
1968 - Promoted to Supervisor and given my own Clerical Unit
1975 to 1977 - Became a Realtor and worked for Century 21 part-time.
1979 - United Airlines hired and trained me to be a Flight Attendant. After 5 mos., I returned to good ole LAPD.
1979 TO 1981 - Intermittently helped a friend with sales of Trane Central Air and Heating.
1981 - Became a Police Dispatcher.
Sept. 2003 - Retired
2003 to 2007 - Traveling, getting fat and sassier.
2007 to 2011 - Volunteer at Mountain View Elementary School teaching the Ukulele to 4th/5th grade students.
2012 - Still a volunteer teacher's assistant but now we perform for Senior Centers and Homes. Seniors are
such appreciative audiences.
