Eva's Story
Hi Class of '60! I hope to see all of you once again at our 50th Reunion but my health is not well but I'm hoping I will have the opportunity to attend.
I have many health issues, heart disease (had open heart surgery), colon cancer (in remission but still not cured), COPD, Diabetes, Chronic Back (stenosis, arthritis, ruptures, 2 surgeries), Rheumatoid Arthritis, Parkinsons Disease, and that's not all, but I'll leave it at that.
I was forced to retire 7 years ago, had been a secretary, office manager and administrative assistant my whole career, live in a high-rise for seniors and disabled, use a walker and have a hoveround to get out.
Married and divorced twice. Had four living children - lost Caroline Jean 5 months old to Sudden Death Syndrome. Then in 2002 I lost my 37 year old daughter Barbara Marie to a virulent form of Pneumonia. We took her to the ER on Christmas Eve 2001 and 18 days later, on life support, she passed away.
She left a 15 year old Evanna Lynn. My son Bobby, my youngest, with the help of my son-in-law Tom, oldest daughter Kathy's husband, built an apartment for her in his attic an...Expand for more
d we all dedicated our lives to taking over for the loss of her Mom. She graduated HS and College and is now the Mom of a 17 month old girl, Mia Marie, and a Social Worker at a Nursing Home.
Bobby 33 and wife Christine have Miranda Rose 10, Santo Joseph 8 and Gianna Marie 4. He is a Supervisor for the US Postal Service. He was wounded while serving in the Army in Haiti (the Aristide reentry) and had surgery.
Kathy 44 and husband Tom (plumber) have one child Danielle Marie 21, in her 4th semester at Daemon College studying Forensic Psychology. Kathy was a member of the Buffalo Police Department but resigned a few years ago and is now working for the Buffalo Board of Education.
Then there's me. I don't get around too well so I stay in. I also have a blood disorder called Thalassemia which makes me sleep the better part of the day. Being a disabled vet (hospital corpswave in the US Navy in the '60's) I get good care at the Veterans Hospital so I'm well taken care of medically.
That's a brief synopsis. I've become very boring. Hope all of you are doing better than me.
Love to all my former classmates!!
